This will be two incredible evenings with actors sharing prose, pain, love, laughter, and life. Our cast is made up of community members, students, mothers, daughters, sisters, new-to-the-stage and seasoned performers. V-Day is a global activist movement to end violence against women and girls, by raising funds and awareness. Productions like this and other V-Day benefit events organized by volunteer activists take place around the world, educating millions of people about the reality of violence against women and girls.
Our goal for 2019 is to raise $15,000 for student scholarships, to be awarded to female-identified students at Lake Tahoe Community College. Scholarships will be awarded to those who demonstrate a seeking spirit, a fierce and compassionate nature, and who agree to give back by working to stop violence against women and girls.
The award-winning play “The Vagina Monologues” is based on V-Day Founder/playwright Eve Ensler’s interviews with more than 200 women. With humor and grace, the production celebrates women’s sexuality and strength. Over the last 20 years, through this play and the liberation of this one word, countless women throughout the world have taken control of their bodies and their lives.
