Lake Tahoe’s first professional sports team hits the ice this month at the Tahoe Blue Event Center. The Tahoe Knight Monsters, an ECHL ice hockey team affiliated with the Vegas Golden Knights, will play home games at the event center through April 2025. The inaugural games are Oct. 24-25.
The ECHL is the leading professional development league for the American Hockey (AHL) and National Hockey League (NHL). Tickets are available for purchase at https://knightmonstershockey.com/tickets. The Tahoe Blue Event Center is in Stateline, Nev., adjacent to South Lake Tahoe.
Co-owned by former NFL Quarterback Tim Tebow and David Hodges, the Knight Monsters give a nod to the Lake Tahoe legend of Tahoe Tessie in their logo and mascot. Tahoe is no stranger to professional hockey after the 2021 NHL Outdoor Games were staged on a temporary rink at Edgewood Tahoe. The games between the Vegas Golden Knights and Colorado Avalanche and the Philadelphia Flyers vs. the Boston Bruins were broadcast to millions of the world’s hockey fans. The event brought international notice to the destination with live footage of Tahoe’s blue waters and dream worthy sunsets.
The Tahoe Knight Monsters announced their first game roster and it’s full of veterans and rookies. Coach Alex Loh has said their goal is to make the playoffs this season. The Tahoe Blue Event Center seats about 4,200 with the ice in place. Games will be broadcast live on Flo Hockey TV.
