September is often called Lake Tahoe’s Secret Season because of the great weather. With school back in session the trails, beaches, and venues slow down a bit. It’s a time to be savored, and locals savor every moment. Here are some top events to catch in September.
For the adventurer and mountain bikers TAMBA (Tahoe Area Mountain Biking Association) Rose to Toads Ride is Sept. 10. Over 62 miles in length with 8,000+ feet of climbing and 10,000+ feet of descent it isn’t for the faint of heart. This signature event raises money for trail maintenance throughout the year.
Farmer’s Markets at Ski Run and Meyers Tahoe Paradise Park also run into September. The Meyers Mountain Market, a CA Certified Farmers Market, is open for Wednesdays from 3 – 7:30 p.m. at Tahoe Paradise Park through Sept. 13. It also includes live music.
Ski Run Farmer’s Market & Street Fair is on Fridays, between 3 and 8 p.m., between Larch and Birch on beautiful Ski Run Boulevard. Live music begins at 4 p.m. With 40 vendors there is something for everyone! Ski Run market offers Organic farm-fresh produce, local eats, live music, and locally made arts and crafts.
The Shops at Heavenly Village are holding a Mexican Independence Party Friday, Sept. 15 from 4 – 7 p.m. with live performances and discounted taco and margarita specials.
Run one of the most scenic routes in the United States with the Emerald Bay Trail Run, Sept. 16. The Emerald Bay Trail Run starts at Eagle Point and then takes you around Emerald Bay and up the Rubicon Trail to D.L. Bliss State Park to finish at Lester Beach. The course is a 7 mile/11Km (approximate) point-to-point route. The course features a mostly single-track route with moderate climbs and descents. The trail is somewhat technical with natural granite steps. It is hard not to look at the stellar views of Lake Tahoe!
Check out Lake Tahoe’s first ever Comic Con Sept 23-24 at the Lake Tahoe Blue Event Center.
Celebrity visitors will be present on both days. An amateur cosplay competition will also be held (Saturday for adults and Sunday for children).
Tickets can be bought online at Ticketmaster.com, at the box office in the Event Center, or on the day of the performance at the door.
