Hitting the clear, blue waters of Lake Tahoe is one of the true joys of summer and July is prime time for water sports. Help protect Lake Tahoe by making sure all of your water devices from kayaks, to blow-up paddleboards are following the Clean, Drain, and Dry rules before launching on the lake. This applies to anything that you might use in other lakes, streams, or rivers, not just boats. Watercraft are the largest source for spreading aquatic invasive species (AIS) into new waterways. And once they come it’s really hard to get rid of them.
You can also help protect Lake Tahoe by becoming a Tahoe Keeper. It’s free and easy. To learn how to Clean, Drain, Dry and Dispose every time, watch the training video. Once you pass the Tahoe Keeper quiz, you may register as a Tahoe Keeper, request Tahoe Keeper decals for each of your watercraft, and receive your Proof of Training credentials.
July 4th is always a busy time on the lake. It is recommended to schedule your boat inspection in advance or after the holiday weekend to avoid long wait times. For a full list of tips to speed through inspections check out https://tahoeboatinspections.com/
